Sorry for the silence/lack of anything lately.
Working 24/7 finally caught up to me. I've been so tired, that I just get home in time to fall asleep standing up. My bus time used to be used for studying, laying out stuff for the day.. now I just sleep. I can't get enough.

Lots is going on, I'll update after first block.

8:07 am - News, news, news.
Shanny's back from Spring Break! YAY!

And, wintery has been added to chaos. And as a result, I have one of my poems to share.

Fearsome Beasts (Septh 17th, 2002)

Legends speak of creatures
Beyond our comprehension.
Masters of earth and sky
Fearsome fanged beasts.
Thye called them dragons,
We call the dinosaurs.

A poem I also wrote last year, shortly after the whole 9/11 crisis. Once again, I feel apt to share it.

Dear Uncle Sam (Sept. 18th)

To Sam,
We, your nephews, find you guilty:
Of extortion to the 192 people of our village.
Of bullying our smaller brothers.
And of murder in the first degree.

So those are just samples of my newer work, which I think is deeper than my previous stuff. Not to mention less depressive. If anyone is interested in seeing more, I have copies of 6 other poems I've written with me now and I'm trying to get my hands on my earlier stuff as well.

8:13 am - YAHOOIE!
Well. I have good news. I have gooder news. And I have bad news.

Bad news first.

Due to provincial financial issues (aka: Ralph Klein spending too much money on getting and staying drunk), the finance minister and minister of education for Alberta have cut funding to schools across the province. What does this mean to me? Well, my school was already getting close to their budget to begin with to update the school with the technology and space it needed to offer the courses it was creating. These cuts put them on the border of being over budget. So in order to give them a margin of safety, some teachers are being let go.

As a by product, my Math 101 class is being joined with another class, each having about 30 students. So this means we'll now have a 60 student classroom.. which is insanely huge at a secondary level. So I'm just *insert gross understatement here* upset about this. So I'm going to write to my Member of the Legislative Assembly to complain. I'm also going to delve into the politcal system with Mr. Mergle and see if the federal government has any say in education. If they do, my Member of Parliment is going to be getting a letter too.

I'd encourage all you to speak out, but unfortunately most of you live in other countries and none of you live here in Alberta. So I'll settle for asking your opinion of this matter.

Now for the good news.

As of yesterday at 3:00PM MST I was one of three students selected to take part in a $5,000 Xerox Certification program that will grant more skills and proficency with computer imaging hardware and software. This is an industry certification, not a degree, and is apparently highly respected. So this means yours truly will now be a better web designer and have a chance of getting employment where I can earn the same amount per month, while working less hours to do so.

And the gooder news.

Tomorrow is mine and Shannon's two year anniversary. :) I hardly believe that we've made it so far so long. It only feels like yesterday when I first went down to meet her.. yet here we are. I've got not a single regret for what we've accomplished together. The various problems we have gone through and come out stronger because of them. The way she's supported me in my times of suffering. I'm eternally grateful to her for every second that she's devoted to me.

So love, when you read this, make sure that yer by the phone Friday night.. 'cause you can bet that I'll be calling ye after work. :)

Now off to class I go.

8:21 am - Have You ever wondered?
Well a greeting definately goes out to shaharazad and rosey_raccoonwhom recently just got appended to my list of friends. This brings my number of 'friends' to the divine number 12. The number of the zodiac, the maximum of any number of major gods in a pantheon. The 'missing' planet of our solar system that the gods of the Sumerian culture reside on. At least, allegedly. I'll delve more into that later. Gotta run to class! BYEE!

10:00 pm - I am G.O.D.!!!!!1
Well not really. But I am:

Find out which Discworld novelty you are.

As well as:
Congratulations!!! You are a proud member of the Egyptian Pantheon. Were you alive thousands of years ago, you would have helped build the famed Egyptian Pyramids. Like the sophisticated Egyptians, you value learning and logic. Though moving within a ponderous bureaucracy and priesthood, the pantheon of Egypt runs the gamut from river gods to sky gods to builder gods. Your grasp of art, architecture and stately beauty creates civilizations worth defending and expanding. You'll enjoy cruising the Nile in reed barges admiring the magnificent works of your people.

There's one in every family. The black-sheep brother-slayer, Set, actually has some good points, too. He is very organized and persuasive, able to bring together large groups to do his bidding. He also works well with animals, particularly the wild and vicious ones, but usually to the detriment of other humans. One of your Set abilities is to make people think they're in on all your plans while secretly keeping the real power for yourself. Remember that some people, like your nephew Horus, are willing to wait a long time for vengeance so never let your guard down.

God Power: Sentinel. Protects a Town Center with four sentinels

Care of good, ol' MSN.

Moving along:

I'm an Angster! Which role-player
are you? Take the quiz here.

More as well:

I Am A: Neutral Evil Elf Ranger Mage

Neutral Evil characters believe in Number One. Their personal gain takes precedance over all else, and they will work with whomever necessary and whatever institutions necessary to further their own goals.

Elves are the eldest of all races, although they are generally a bit smaller than humans. They are generally well-cultured, artistic, easy-going, and because of their long lives, unconcerned with day-to-day activities that other races frequently concern themselves with. Elves are, effectively, immortal, although they can be killed. After a thousand years or so, they simply pass on to the next plane of existance.

Primary Class:
Rangers are the defenders of nature and the elements. They are in tune with the Earth, and work to keep it safe and healthy.

Secondary Class:
Mages harness the magical energies for their own use. Spells, spell books, and long hours in the library are their loves. While often not physically strong, their mental talents can make up for this.

Cyric is the Neutral Evil god of death, murder, the dead, strife, tyranny, deception, and illusion. His followers are working to secure his position as a new god, and are in conflict with many worshippers of other deities. They wear black or dark purple robes, with silver trimming, and wear silver bracelets. Cyric's symbol is a skull set in a purple starburst.

Find out What D&D Character Are You?, courtesy ofNeppyMan (e-mail)

Funny. I always end up an evil mage of some sort. I'm listed at 'Chaotic evil- 4pts, Neutral evil- 5pts, Lawful evil- 4pts.' Yet I choose honor as my favourite trate and pride as me least. Oh well.

You just gotta love those Arrogant Worms. That song is preformed in a caveman-esque fashion, complete with percussion drom and poor use of grammar. Other such hits include 'Log In To You' a song of geek love, 'Santa's Gonna Kick Your Ass', 'Malcolm' being proof that violence DOES solve problems, and the forgotten brother of that famous man, 'Jesus' Brother Bob'.

Folk music is grand, ain't if folks?

o/' You can unzip all my floppy drives and SPIN my CD-Rom! o/'

Word out to Dandelion, I'm still confused about the whole FTP thing. If you'll be on ICQ tomorrow after 2pm MST, let me know. We can then talk about it so we can all get on the same page.

Other than that.. not much more to say. Other than I got to talk to Shannon last night, which was grand. I feel so much more at peace now knowing she's ok and having a chance to just vocally curl up with her. She went home for the weekend and should be back sometime today, so she'll be making some more LJ posts soon me hope.

Another things is Gryphonlady is back. YAY! I got the chance to talk to her online the other day, she sent me copies of some games that I want a chance to playtest before I get back to her about them. I'm gonna run them by Brandon tonight and see what he has to say about it. I'm sure I could convince him to at least try and run a game.

I'm surprised though, I got a good amount of sleep this weekened as well as last night yet I feel sloggier than ye could possibley imagine. I wonder why..

9:47 am - Disgusted.
Last year, I was one of a handful of select students, who -wanted- to take part in Centre High's community of students. We were called 'Ambassadors' and numbered no more than about 8. We all knew what was expected and we all did our job. We wore our shirts without complaint, we accepted it all with a smile and so on. No one slacked off.

This year, a new faculty member runs the team and we've become a disgusting disarray. The membership ballooned and now seemingly has tripled. People who refuse to wear the shirt are considered 'ok' and more of them seem interested in the free goodies than anything else. Not only that, us who were there from last year are getting the same lectures and treatment that everyone else is. The most bizarre thing is having to thank someone for letting us volunteer our time and effort to do something for them. That's not something I've heard of.. you don't thank someone for being a volunteer. Volunteer's get thanked. It's jes.. not.. normal. Which bothers me the most.

Perhaps the biggest thing that bothers me is how disorganized and little we've been treated so far. Our first function this semester under the new management was to be, get this, waiters. That's right. We were to moniter food tables, assist in keeping them stocked, and clean up after people. Yet at a similar function last year, we were told to 'go mingle, meet people, sell the school'.

So I'm tempted to say screw this and quit. Really I am. What do you guys think?

1:07 pm - Whoa. I didn't know...
I scored 139.. which falls under this category:
Highly gifted and appearing to be a Genius to most others: 136 - 145

Shocked. Amazed. Suprised.
I figured I would've scored less.. say around.. oh 'Gifted' or 'Above average'... The accuracy of the test is within 5 points of a proffesional one. Which means I'm the upper end of gifted to the lower end of 'highly gifted'. Mind you, this is only my academic and problem solving academics. Not my social or emotional intelligence. If they measured that I would've done far far worse, I imagine.

The Devil's Right Hand
- Steve Earle
About the time that Daddy left to fight the big war
I saw my first pistol in the general store
In the general store, when I was thirteen
Thought it was the finest thing I ever had seen
So l asked if I could have one someday when I grew up
Mama dropped a dozen eggs, she really blew up
She really blew up and I didn't understand
Mama said the pistol is the devil's right hand
The devil's right hand, the devil's right hand
Mama said the pistol is the devil's right hand

My very first pistol was a cap and ball Colt
Shoot as fast as lightnin' but it loads a mite slow
Loads a mite slow and soon I found out
It can get you into trouble but it can't get you out
So then I went and bought myself a Colt 45
Called a peacemaker but I never knew why
Never knew why, I didn't understand
Cause Mama said the pistol is the devil's right hand

Well I get into a card game in a company town
Caught a miner cheating I shot the dog down
Shot the dog down, watched the man fall
Never touched his holster, never had a chance to draw
The trial was in the morning and they drug me out of bed
Asked me how I pleaded, not guilty I said
Not guilty I said, you've got the wrong man
Nothing touched the trigger but the devil's right hand

What a song. Definately falls into the 'Classic' category. I love that song and 'Copperhead Road'. A friend reccemmonded them to me last night. I wonder if he's got any other songs I'd like, going to have to go looking.

Seeing as how my musical library keeps expanding at this exponetial rate.. I'm going to need to get some more MP3 compilation discs but not for a while. I've got most of the songs I've been suggested to for now. If anyone has any more suggestions though, do run them by me.

Current Bands I Enjoy (ie: 90% of their songs)
James, Disturbed, Rob Zombie, White Zombie, Limp Bizkit, Bowser & Blue, Arrogant Worms, Captain Tractor, Nickelback, Buddy Holly, Billy Joel, Crash Test Dummies, Eminem.

Misc songs I also like:
Trance, Rave, Techno, Dance (not rap, usually. A few exceptions, notabally 'Up In Here by DMX').

Stuff I hate:
Country. I'm willing to make exceptions for certain songs though.

Feel free to offer ideas!

Back to plugging through this day. :)

Added Later That Day:

Amazing. I just converted decimal to hex and then hex to binary in my head in faster than the rest of the class did the same coversion with a calculator. It's easy! Mind you. I know a 'fast' way for me to recognize a number that is 5 times it's original amount. Ex: 80 is five times 16. I just halve the original and multiply by ten. Easier for me to picture it that way. Not only that, I know the powers of 16 up to cubed (4096). 16 squared is the same as a full IP octet, which 256. (Technically, an IP octet has a max of 255 though.)

Amazing what having a head for math in a computer course can do for you. To think, back in grade 2 I couldn't do any subtraction questions. I had to turn them into addition questions (basic algebra. The question would be 3-2=?.. I would think: 2+x=3.. and thusly I would know the answer is 1.) I think it's part of how I am. I don't have a 'slider' system that most people seem to. It's one big grand table of elements.. a side effect of me memory, I think.

I go through one experience, I memorize it and lock into the 'table' for future reference. I come across a new one.. I cross reference against similar expereinces and derive the answer from that. I don't go by 'feeling'.. I don't go by instinct. It's calculated.

Mebbe that could be part of me problem...

10:41 am - Illness passes, Exams fini.
Man. I've never done so well when I 'fly by the seat of my pants' on exam.. yet I just did that and scored a whopping 80%. Chapters 3 and 4 of Cisco's CCNA semester three finished. According to their cirrculum, I should be able to configure a cisco router, begin effectively segementing a LAN with switches, develop VLANS, and assist in LAN design. Now for chapter 5, I learn the IGRP routing protocol. Yum. After that.. IPX and Access Control Lists followed by network management. Then it's off to sem 4 and the dreaded final exam.. all culiminating in the ability to sign 'CCNA' at the end of my name. My average so far is 82.3% Whee!

I'm kind of disappointed though. So far I'll I've been doing is spouting out what I saw in the text books. No handouts to make me think on how to do it, no lab time to actually put what I've read in practice. I'm really starting to wonder if I'll pass now without any reinforcement of the lessons. It's.. well.. boring. I could write all these exams and such in my own house and not bother about comeing to class.

Upside, I'm managing to stay ahead of the class. They are just getting ready to write chapter four.. I'm already half way through Chapter five while I write this.

I finished burning the copies of Dandelion Studios so I can take them off the school's lan and browse more for that error. It's a table formatting problem, Mr. McDonald hasn't gotten back to me yet about it. I wish I knew what it was...

Class is up. Cya.

What Self-Mutilation Are You?
brought to you by Quizilla

Oddly enough.. I don't partake in this ritual. Something about externalizing pain into a pointless ritual just has never sat too well with me...

Moving along. On a similar topic, I've decided that it's time to do some 'amputation' of my life, trim out the deadwood as to speak. So people that I really have no use for, or are just causing problems in me own social/emotional well-being.

Good news, that means nobody on my LJ. Ye've either been very supportive or haven't been a drag on me. But some people.. this is their only warning as to what is coming. Over the next month, I'll be 'trimming the fat' on who I associate with. This will be regardless of previous attachments.

Of course, there are exceptions to this. Like all my LJ friends, Shannon, 90% of my other pals.. it's just a very select few..
